New Delhi, Nov 06: Missing JNU student Najeeb Ahmed's cousin sister and some students have alleged that Najeeb's mother was dragged on road by Delhi police when she resisted her detention near India Gate here on Sunday. Besides around 300 students, Najeeb's mother, sister and brother were also detained by the police as Section 144 was imposed in the area. All of them were later released. They were protesting over mysterious disappearance of Najeeb from his hostel room three weeks ago.

Soon after the release, Sadaf Musharraf, cousin sister of Najeeb talked to media persons.

"It is very shameful act. We had just gone there and stood up. No JNU student was with us there. With me were my aunt (Najeeb's mother) and my brother and soon Delhi policemen came up in vans. We told them we are just standing here. It is our right. We are not doing anything, not raising any slogan, nor speaking, just standing silently in a corner. Why are you detaining us," said Sadaf.

"Don't have I right to ask where is my brother for the last 23 days? You have seen in pictures how they dragged his mother on the road. I was hit in my leg and shoulder. My aunt got hit in hand and foot by shoes. How much low will go humanity in our country India," she asked.

Meanwhile, JNU Students Union vice presient Satarupa Chakraborty has also alleged that Najeeb's mother was dragged.

"See how Najeeb's mother was dragged by Delhi police. Mr. @rajnathsingh , nothing more shameful can happen under your rule. @ArvindKejriwal," she tweeted with a picture of Najeeb's mother crying on the land while two women police officers holding her by hand.

"Najeeb's mother misbehaved by Delhi police, beaten up and dragged into police van, now detained in Mayapuri PS," Satarupa further said.

JNU Students Union president Mohit Panday also alleged that some protesters were assaulted and even threatened by police.

"Police have detained us and have brutally beaten us and have broken our mobile phones. Many protesters have been detained and are being taken to different locations..." he said.

Najeeb, first year student of M.Sc. (Biotechnology), went missing from his Room No. 106 at the Mahi-Mandavi hostel of JNU on 15th October, day after an alleged scuffle with some members of ABVP. Eyewitness and some residents of the hostel have alleged that during the scuffle previous night (14th Oct), Najeeb was brutally assaulted by a mob of 15-20 students. On the complaint of his mother, the local police lodged a case of abduction on 16th Oct.
