Gorakhpur Tragedy: Protest Held at Uttar Pradesh Bhawan in Delhi
New Delhi, Aug 14: Scores of students, social workers and human rights activists on Monday staged a protest demonstration outside the Uttar Pradesh Bhawan in Delhi over the deaths of children at a government hospital in Gorakhpur - the parliamentary constituency of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
In the last one week, more than 70 children have reportedly died at the state-run BRD Medical College and Hospital in Gorakhpur - some of them allegedly due to shortage of oxygen supply at the hospital.
The protestors were shouting slogans against the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh. They also demanded resignation of CM Yogi.
JNUSU president Mohit Pandey, social activist Nadim Khan and SIO PR Secretary Syed Azharuddin addressed the gathering.
Facing strong criticism of the Opposition, the Yogi government has ordered magisterial probe into the deaths of children.
