"In the name of Hindu Rashtra, goons will be ruling the country and then no one will be safe, nor will be his dignity intact. More than others, Hindus of the country should think if they have lost their civilization or they want to protect it"

Ghazanfar Abbas, IndiaTomorrow.net,

New Delhi, May 6: "The rule of State seems to have ended, or State has willingly promoted such elements who catch, assault and kill people and loot their cattle. This can't happen without tacit support of State. It seems country has slipped into the hands of goons...And this all in the name of Hindu Rashtra...More than others, Hindus of the country should think if they have lost their civilization or they want to protect it," said Prof. Apoorvanand Jha of Delhi University.

Deeply aggrieved at incidents of lynching of Muslim men in the name of cow protection, Prof. Jha said it would be a crude joke if one keeps mum on such incidents but talks about rights of women.

"It's a joke if such people talk about protection of Muslim women. You kill Muslim males and say you want to protect Muslim women. No bigger joke than this one done in the last 200 years. It's a pure joke, so should not be taken seriously. But no, we will have to take it seriously because it's done by State," he told IndiaTomorrow.net standing outside the Bikaner House of the Rajasthan government in the national capital on the sidelines of a protest demonstration seeking justice for slain Haryana dairy farmer Pahlu Khan.

Khan, 50, was lynched by a brutal gang of self-styled Gau Rakshaks in the Alwar district of Rajasthan in April.

In the last two years, around a dozen people, including Muslims and Dalits have been lynched by such gangs in different parts of the country.

Prof. Apoorvanand said what is happening today was actually started three years ago when Narendra Modi was contesting national elections to become prime minister of the country.

"Society will have to notice that country is slipping into those hands who want to turn India into a Hindu Rashtra of their choice. This is very dangerous. In the name of Hindu Rashtra, goons will be ruling the country and then no one will be safe, nor will be his dignity intact. More than others, Hindus of the country should think if they have lost their civilization or they want to protect it," he said.
